SOCIAL INNOVATION TRAINING - Zone 1

Girl Guides Association Malaysia (GGAM) organised four training workshops on social innovation with funding from the GGAM – World Guide Foundation (WGF) Membership Growth fund. Among the objectives were to promote community guiding through programmes with an added innovation dimension to responsible and active citizenship in creating positive change in the society while also supporting social sustainability.

Facilitators Susanne Koller, Sofie-Amalie Dissing Sorth and Nanna Klingenberg Andersen from Girl Guides of Denmark incorporated the `Design for Change methodology’ which emphasised the four phases of feelimaginedo, and share. They  engaged the participants (girls and young women including guiders and Trefoil Guide members) creatively to identify, collaborate, develop and act on project ideas that create value in their local communities. This involved training their decision-making, planning and social skills leading to the experience of a great sense of ownership for the value creation.

Many thanks to our hosts in the four zones for their kind support and warm hospitality. Their assistance in ensuring the  back-to-back training workshops proceed successfully is much appreciated.
